Google, Meta or TikTok Ads: How to Choose Your First Channel
Compare advertising channels by customer intent, creative requirements, destination readiness and your ability to evaluate enquiry quality.
Choosing an advertising platform because it is popular can leave your team solving the wrong problem. A search campaign, a product demonstration in a social feed and a lead-generation offer require different preparation. The useful starting point is the buying situation: what the customer already understands, what you need to explain and which action your business can support. Compare channels against that brief rather than looking for a universal winner.
Begin with a commercial action
Decide whether the campaign is intended to generate a suitable enquiry, sell an available product or support another defined action. Do not treat a video view, a website visit and a completed sale as equivalent. They can represent different stages of the journey, with different review questions.
Google’s campaign guidance describes different campaign types for different goals. TikTok likewise asks advertisers to select an objective that fits their intended outcome. Check the current options in the relevant account; features and availability can change. The objective label does not replace a clear business definition of success.
Consider search when the need is already expressed
Search advertising is worth investigating when people actively look for the service or product you can provide. Start by reviewing the meaning behind the searches, not just their apparent volume. A person researching how to do something may not be looking to hire a provider.
Prepare a destination that answers the specific query. Show relevant scope, availability and a clear next step. Include unsuitable searches and out-of-scope requests in the review so the campaign is not judged by clicks alone. Search demand, costs and account eligibility need checking rather than assuming another business’s results will apply to you.
Consider social channels when the offer needs showing
Meta and TikTok may be useful candidates when a demonstration, visual explanation or recognisable problem helps introduce the offer. Assess where your intended customers spend attention and whether your team can produce credible material suited to that context.
Do not assume that moving an existing graphic into a video placement creates a suitable ad. You may need a clear opening, a product demonstration, readable captions or an explanation of the next step. The creative workload belongs in the channel decision, alongside media spend and landing-page preparation.
Check the journey after the click
A platform can send attention to a weak process. Test the destination, form confirmation, enquiry routing and response ownership before committing more money. A messaging campaign needs a workable conversation process; a store campaign needs accurate product information and an operational order flow.
For Egypt and Saudi Arabia, confirm the market you can actually serve and the language and contact arrangements you can support. Review the full promise in the ad and destination together. Avoid advertising availability, delivery terms or response commitments that have not been approved by the business.
Run a test your team can interpret
Write down the question, approved resources, required assets and review criteria before launch. Keep records of enquiry suitability and sales feedback alongside platform reports. Changes to the offer or follow-up process should be recorded, because they affect how you interpret the results.
You do not need to start everywhere. Choose the channel whose role is clearest and whose requirements you can meet. Expand when you can explain what happened and what still needs testing, not simply because an early metric appears promising.
- A defined action and customer situation.
- A channel suited to the message and available assets.
- A working destination and follow-up process.
- Approved spending and review criteria.
- A record of enquiry quality, not only contact volume.
